Frequently Asked Questions
What are we trying to offer here exactly?
We are an integrity check for repair facilities across the nations, whether they are independent shops or big dealerships.
BST Inspection Services is offering customers who have questions about repairs on their vehicles and feel that its possible their chosen repair facility could be misleading them, either on purpose or by accident, the opportunity to have a “car person” advocate and ask questions for them. Imagine having a knowledgeable mechanic ask questions and get information on for you when you take your car in, ensuring that you do not get lied to, taken advantage of, or mislead.
BST wants to establish up front that most shops are honest, good people. Rarely do we find a deceitful or malicious shop, but often we do find a breakdown in communication. Part of our goals is to give you a good recommendations, whether its to approve the repair or to take it to another shop entirely, or do something completely differently. We are here to help you, make the best decision for your repair.
What is an automotive inspector?An automotive inspector is a role that up to this point has been employed by extended warranty companies. Often times, when a repair becomes overly expensive, or the repair facility fails to communicate thoroughly, or perhaps asks for something out of the norm, the warranty company would call for an inspection to be performed in order to gain clarity on the situation. This has served to prevent a huge amount of fraud and misdiagnosis.
This role is nothing new to the automotive industry, but Bradley and Sarah felt that it was time to offer this service to the public.
What makes you different?The only thing that makes BST Inspections different than anyone else you work with is our human connection. We are a family, trying to serve families of all walks of life. We are honest to the best of our abilities and we truly care.
We have been in situations where we were faced with the choice of getting the car fixed, or paying the rent, just like you may be in. When you don’t know someone to call, or who to ask other than the service advisor, and you are not sure if you can trust them to be honest with you, BST Inspections will be the people you rely on to guide you.
Why Can't I trust my mechanic or service advisor?
OFTEN TIMES YOU CAN!!! BST Inspections is not here to make you think that mechanics and service advisors and dealerships are being dishonest. They are people too, just trying to feed their families, just like you are. But here are two facts about the industry;
Service advisors are paid by how much they sell. The bigger the ticket, the bigger their paycheck. Most advisors are honest, good people, but their job is to make you feel comfortable while selling you repairs, big or small.
Mechanics and Technicians in most places are paid on a flat rate basis. This functions similar to commission; The bigger the job, often the bigger the payout. This is not always true; Some repair facilities pay technicians hourly or even salary. Some large jobs are not as profitable as smaller jobs, but many are because technicians are practiced and efficient at them.
Sometimes is good to have someone purely on your side that is not incentivized to sell you more things. Whether your repair bill is big or small doesn’t matter to us. Getting you back on the road with a single repair, done right the first time, is our goal.
